Our journey to the heart of the South Pacific began with a time-bending adventure. On a Friday evening, we drove up to Vancouver and boarded our flight to Nadi, Fiji. Thanks to crossing the International Date Line, Saturday, October 12th vanished entirely from our calendar! We went to sleep on a plane on Friday and woke up on Sunday morning in a tropical paradise.

Here is the diary of our unforgettable week:
Days 1 & 2: Finding Paradise at Momi Bay
We checked into the spectacular Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay, our home for the week. The resort is famous for its unique lagoon and overwater bungalows. We spent our first two days slowing down to "Fiji time"—waking up to the sound of warm ocean breezes, walking along the white sand lagoon, and witnessing some of the most dramatic, fire-colored sunsets we have ever seen. The warmth of the local people and their signature greeting, "Bula!", instantly made us feel at home.
Day 3: Cloud 9 — Floating in the Middle of the Ocean
On Tuesday, we took a day trip to Cloud 9, a legendary two-level floating platform bar anchored in the middle of the turquoise waters of the Mamanuca Islands. Surrounded by nothing but shades of blue, we spent the day relaxing on daybeds, eating wood-fired pizzas, snorkeling in the vibrant coral reefs right off the platform, and jumping into the warm Pacific. It felt like a dream.
Day 4: Castaway Island Day Trip
Wednesday was dedicated to exploring Castaway Island (Qalito). This private island resort is the epitome of a tropical escape, surrounded by gold-sand beaches and rich marine sanctuaries. We spent hours snorkeling among colorful fish and sea turtles, walking through the lush rainforest interior, and dining right on the beach with our toes in the sand.
Day 5: Recharging at Momi Bay
After two active day trips, we spent our final full day enjoying the serene pools and tranquil ocean views at Momi Bay, soaking in every last drop of the warm Fijian sun.
Day 6: The Longest Friday
On October 18th, we said goodbye to Fiji and boarded our flight home. Because we crossed back over the International Date Line, we flew out on Friday and landed in Vancouver on the very same Friday, practically reliving the day. It was the longest and most rewarding Friday of our lives, wrapping up a perfect island escape!
